Studios and Equipment

Studio Equipment must be picked up and returned to a locker. Place your locker key in the drop box when you are finished.

All equipment must be back in its case, Cables looped and secured, stands folded fully down The house instruments and amplifiers must be left at the side of the rooms.

Some Items of equipment will need to be quarantined for 72 hours, Item will be inspected for any damage at the end of this period. Users will be notified by the Studio Controller if any damage is found.

All equipment must be pre booked prior to session commencement – no additional equipment can be requested during sessions

All students must be present (socially distanced) 10 minutes before their booking to make sure sessions begin on time. Bookings will be automatically cancelled for late arrivals. Users must be fully packed down and vacate the space by the end of the booking.

Reset the Desk after your session has finished

Shutting down the studio – The Studio controller will turn on and off the studio as required.

When Cabling, ensure they are tidy and not a trip hazard

Report any Faults to the Studio controller and record any problems in the log book.

Mute the Mixing desk before any patching

Own Equipment - The use of electronic items etc. will need to be PAT tested before taking into the Studio.

Health And Safety Requirements

Hand Sanitizer station by the main studio door (to be used on entry and exit)

Fire Extinguisher - Where it is.

Fire Exit - Where it is and keeping it free from obstruction. Do not lock any doors.

Sound Ears – Monitor the Safety Ears device on walls, if Flashing Red lower your sound levels to prevent hearing damage. It is advised that you wear ear protection if exposing yourself to extended periods of high levels of sound. You should take regular breaks every 30 minutes.

First Aid - Positioning of the First Aid Box, people in the building who are trained for First Aid, contact site steward on 7666.

Access - How to access the studio. Keep the main studio door closed.

Capacity - No more than 5 people in Studio 1 control room at a time, no more than 4 people in the Live Room.

Capacity - No more than 2 people in Studio 2 Control Room at a time, no more than 3 people in the Live Room.

No food or drink in the Control Room bottled water only in the Studio. Use the Green Room for eating and drinking.

Trip hazards - keep areas free from clutter, be aware of cable runs, being mindful of others.

The recording studios are monitored on CCTV, If any damage is found to the studio or equipment the CCTV will be reviewed.

If you are loan working. You must let the Studio Controller/Security aware of any medical conditions that may affect you working alone.

Studio Controller has ultimate say on decisions concerning the health and safety operation of the studio and will be able to monitor contravention via CCTV – sessions may be shut down at any point for infractions that are deemed unsafe.

Responsibility

No external musicians or guests- No students from outside the Music Course(s)In extenuating circumstances Permission will be needed from the Studio Controller

Authorisation

As an authorized user of the Studio, you are responsible for the health and safety of other users with you in the area.



1. For equipment which has been returned to the Loan counter and is broken - £250.


2. For equipment which has been lost or stolen - £500.


3. OR the total cost of repair or replacement. Please note:


* The University of Winchester insurance policy covers all University equipment which is on loan including equipment taken abroad for work and study purposes.


* Any breakages, loss or theft must be reported to the Studio Controller within 5 days of the incident and in the case of equipment having been stolen a Police Report and incident number must be obtained and the report handed in.


If you are not happy to do so, please cancel the booking and arrange to discuss your concerns with the Multimedia Centre Supervisor
